The Ministry of Economic Development (MEO) is one of the 9 ministries which form part of the Government of Curaçao.
The Ministry of Economic Development is being led by Minister Dhr. E. Ph. Rhuggenaath, MBA/MBI.
Some of the tasks of the former Department of Economic Affairs of Curaçao (“Dienst Economische Zaken”) and the Directorate of Economic Affairs along with the Department for Development Cooperation for the Netherlands Antilles have been centralized into the Ministry of Economic Development of Curaçao shortly after the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles as of October 10th, 2010 and the rise of a new constituent country Curaçao within the Dutch Kingdom.

The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) Curaçao is a governmental organization. It was founded as a separate Bureau in 1976. At this moment the CBS is part of the Ministry of Management, Planning and Services (Bestuur, Planning en Dienstverlening – BPD). Up till October 10th, 2010 CBS Netherlands Antilles produced and published statistical data of all the islands of the Netherlands Antilles (Curaçao, Bonaire, Saba, Sint Eustatius and Sint Maarten).
The Netherlands Antilles as a country has been dissolved on the 10th of October 2010. After dissolution, the islands of Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius became public entities of the Netherlands, while Curaçao and Sint Maarten became constituent countries within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This means that CBS also was transformed from CBS of the Netherlands Antilles to CBS Curaçao. From then on forward CBS will therefore only produce and publish information about Curaçao.

The Central Bureau of Statistics is the independent and officially recognized provider of relevant statistical information on all social areas. This information is integrated, reliable, objective, complete, timely and accessible to the public.
Vision
The Central Bureau of Statistics intends to develop itself into the only officially appointed organization in the Curaçao to produce high quality statistical products. The Bureau wants to reach this goal with well-educated and well-motivated personnel. The personnel are acquainted with the latest technological and methodological processing techniques.
